
Fort Worth voters, mark your calendars and get ready to cast your ballots this Tuesday, March 5, as the Democratic and Republican primaries are set to kick off. Key races on the docket include the battle for two congressional seats left open by retiring U.S. Reps. Kay Granger and Michael Burgess. Tarrant County is also bracing for the primaries for tax assessor-collector and two seats on the County Commissioners Court.
Texas politics are heating up and voters will have the chance to also weigh in on a U.S. Senator and State House representation. In instances where no candidate manages to secure more than half the vote, the top two contenders will advance to go head-to-head in a runoff scheduled for May 28.
For those residing in Tarrant County, the convenience of voting at any Vote Center location within the county from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Election Day has been made available. A list of Election Day Vote Centers by ZIP code can be found in the City of Fort Worth.
To further facilitate voter turnout, Trinity Metro has generously offered to give free rides to the polls on all its local services during the Primary Election. Eligibility for these complimentary rides extends to customers riding to or from the polls on Trinity Metro buses, ZIPZONE rideshare, ACCESS paratransit, TEXRail, and Trinity Railway Express which connect various stations in Tarrant County, including CentrePort. "To obtain a free ride, customers should notify their driver or train conductor that they are traveling to or from a voting location," according to the City of Fort Worth.
