Frisco is steering its future with a couple of key promotions within the city ranks. City Manager Wes Pierson announced the elevation of two seasoned interim directors to permanent chief positions, strengthening the leadership in both the engineering and financial departments.
Jason Brodigan, an experienced hand at city planning and infrastructure projects, is taking the helm as Frisco's Director of Engineering Services. Having joined the city's workforce in 2007, Brodigan climbed the ladder from a senior civil engineer to the role he takes on today, leading a team of 49. According to the City of Frisco, his new responsibilities include directing Capitol Projects, Development and Traffic divisions. Brodigan has set his sights on innovation, particularly in traffic management, saying, "We're going to need to be innovative to keep people moving without building more lanes." His strategy includes the latest in signal technology and the introduction of roundabouts.
Brodigan's tenure with the Texas Department of Transportation, which spanned nearly 14 years before his stint at Frisco, and his degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Texas – Austin lay a solid foundation for his new role, which began effectively, immediately after his promotion was announced.
Derrick Cotten, stepping up to the plate as Frisco's new Chief Financial Officer (CFO), shares his enthusiasm for his promotion. "I am honored and humbled to be selected to serve the City of Frisco as the next CFO," Cotten said, as per the City of Frisco. He brings a commitment to fiscal prudence and the city's legacy of being a pioneering force in government finance. Cotten has been with the City of Frisco since 2018 and has climbed the ranks from Accounting Manager to this newest promotion heading a team of 62.
Before serving the communities of Frisco, and before roles in Lodi and Stockton, California, Cotten served six years in the United States Air Force. His academic credentials include a Master's and Bachelor of Science in Accountancy from California State University – Sacramento and the University of West Florida, respectively. Both he and Brodigan assume their new roles with immediate effect, poised to drive efficiency and innovation in the evolving cityscape of Frisco.
