In a bid to solve a hit-and-run that left a man dead, Grand Rapids Police have turned to the public for assistance. The incident, which claimed the life of 53-year-old Roberto Delgato on March 10, occurred at the intersection of Division Avenue S and Andre Street SW. The vehicle in question is described by authorities as a dark-colored 2006-2008 Honda Pilot SUV.
According to FOX 17, surveillance footage acquired by the police showed the car traveling north on Division before making an eastward turn onto Burton Street, and possibly heading north on Francis Avenue. In their efforts to locate the individual connected to this fatal accident, the Grand Rapids Police Department (GRPD) has distributed photos of the person of interest.
Officials are offering a $3,200 reward through Silent Observer for information that could lead to an arrest. "We are asking anyone who may have information about this fatal crash to contact GRPD or provide tips anonymously through Silent Observer," Officer Alex Thompson stated, emphasizing the department's commitment to holding the driver accountable and seeking justice for Mr. Delgato, as reported by 13 ON YOUR SIDE.
The suspect's vehicle is expected to have considerable damage to the headlight, windshield, and hood on the driver's side. GRPD is requesting residents and businesses in affected areas to review surveillance footage, which might provide further clues as to where the SUV went after the incident.
