Harris County Constable Deputies, led by the vigilant Constable Mark Herman, captured a man in the middle of a brazen robbery attempt yesterday. The incident, which unfolded in the 22200 block of Spring Gate Drive, saw homeowners returning to their property to find an unwelcome guest pilfering their belongings from their garage.
The suspect, later identified as Omar Velez, forced a tense confrontation, brandishing a firearm and making a futile plea to the homeowners to forestall law enforcement, promising the return of their stolen items. Despite the peril, the residents made the courageous call for help. Deputies managed to defuse the situation without further incident, placing Velez under arrest.
Constable Herman's office was quick to provide details of the arrest, celebrating the rapid and effective response of his team. "Omar Velez was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail, charged with Burglary of a Habitation and Aggravated Robbery. His bond and court information have not been set at this time." Herman was quoted by the Constable Precinct 4's official Facebook page. This suspect stands accused of a serious invasion of the sanctity of a private home, a transgression all too common in our times.
