A man accused of dodging deputies and theft in Harris County was nabbed yesterday after a chase on foot. Constable Mark Herman's Office identified him as Jeremy Wood during a suspicious person investigation at 6545 North Grand Parkway West.
Deputies had originally responded to a call about a suspicious person. Once on scene, they found Wood with a female's identification card. Constable's deputies attempted to quickly, but unsuccessfully detain him as he decided to make a run for it, according to Constable Mark Herman's social media reports. However, Wood's flight from the law was short-lived; he was apprehended shortly after.
Further investigation into the case revealed a deeper connection between Wood and the owner of the identification card. A deputy reached out to the woman whose ID Wood possessed, and she claimed Wood had previously assaulted her and stolen the card.
"Jeremy Wood was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail, charged with Evading Arrest and Detention and Robbery," announced Constable Mark Herman in a statement. Wood's bond and court dates were still pending at the time.
