Law enforcement in Harris County pulled the curtain down on one fugitive's run from justice last week. On a routine patrol at the 15300 block of Grant Road, a lieutenant from Constable Mark Herman's Office laid eyes on Richard Ortiz, a suspect with a stack of warrants to his name.
The Constable Deputies swiftly moved to quickly apprehend Ortiz, cross-referencing and confirming he was the bearer of two felony warrants—for theft and evading arrest—and two misdemeanor warrants for criminal trespass. The wanted man found that his luck had run dry as the officers took him into custody without further incident.
In a brief recount of the events, Constable Mark Herman did not mince words. "Richard Ortiz was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail, for the open warrants. His bond was set at $8,100.00 out of the 482nd District Court and County Court 14," Herman declared in a public statement.
With Ortiz now behind bars, the community breathes a collective sigh of relief as another accused perpetrator is to stand before the scales of justice. The bond set suggests that officials have a mind to ensure Ortiz faces the consequences of his alleged criminal romps should he at all try to slip once more from their grasp.
