Holey Grail Taro Doughnuts Set to Sweeten Long Beach With New Belmont Shore LocationSource: Google Street View

Holey Grail, the taro doughnut outfit that has won over taste buds across Los Angeles, is set to break ground in Long Beach, taking over a former Earl of Sandwich location. Lovers of the unique, Hawaiian-inspired treat can set their sights on 4803 E. 2nd St. in Belmont Shore, where the brand is expected to roll out its latest outpost in the months ahead,  as reported by What Now Los Angeles.

The doughnut purveyors, Hana and Nile Dreiling made waves in 2018 when they transformed the traditional taro starch into a dough base through pounding and fermenting, allowing them to open multiple locations including two in Hawaii and two others in Santa Monica and Larchmont.

Beyond their novel taro base, Holey Grail's menu boasts an array of innovative flavors from Chaga Chai to Ube and Meyer lemon to smoked coconut, capturing the hearts (and palates) of many. Their approach has not only garnered a cult-like following but also attracted attention from high-profile investors like skateboarding legend Tony Hawk.

It's not just doughnuts that are propelling Belmont Shore into the spotlight. The neighborhood is undergoing a renaissance of sorts, attracting a series of high-profile, Los Angeles-based eateries and shops. "It’s really a reflection of how people are dismissing the shopping malls in favor of Main Street corridors that remind them of charm, and local culture," Heather Kern of the Belmont Shore Business Association told, as per Longbeachize. A slew of new ventures— such as The Win~Dow, Dave’s Hot Chicken, and now Holey Grail—have chosen this district for their latest branches, signifying a tidal change in local consumer preferences.
