Flames ravaged a house in the East Little York / Homestead area, scorching walls and threatening the lives of residents therein. The fire, which occurred on March 18 at around 5:45 p.m., caused an estimated $50,000 in damage to the home located on the 5000 block of Wiley Rd., as per a city report. However, quick action by the Houston Fire Department managed to save property valued at $152,000.

Firefighters arrived within four minutes amidst plumes of smoke billowing from the eaves of the 1-story house. They aggressively entered through the front door and set about tackling the blaze that had also spread into the attic and the walls. Despite the potential for disaster, there were no reported injuries.

The cause of the fire was a failure in the electrical system, ruled by HFD Arson investigators according to the same city media release.

Responding with a force of 45 personnel, teams from Stations 15, 19, 34, 12, 30, 39, and 56 collaborated in a concerted effort to extinguish the fire. They ventilated the roof and pulled the ceiling down to get to the flames. Once under control, the American Red Cross was brought in to support of the residents.
