A 22-year-old man has been apprehended in connection with a violent attack in Houston that left two women with severe stab wounds. Cody Glenn Peloquin faces serious charges after allegedly assaulting his sister and another woman with a deadly weapon at a home in the city's east end.
The incident unfolded late Saturday night at 9318 East Avenue N, where according to the City of Houston News, police responded to a distressing call. Attempting to flee after the assault, Peloquin was stopped by officers on the scene and taken into custody. The two victims, aged 26 and 28, were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment; one is listed in critical condition, while the other is stable.
Prosecutors have since charged Peloquin with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and aggravated assault of a family member, filings at the 182nd State District Court show. His bond and a booking photo have been released, painting a grim portrait of the night’s events.
The motive behind the stabbings has not been detailed, but Detective J. Ali of the HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division, reported on the incident with first responders' quick action highlighted in the report, "Officers were dispatched to a cutting in-progress call at the residence at the above address and learned two women were stabbed by a known male. Officers apprehended the male (Peloquin) as he attempted to flee the scene. Houston Fire Department paramedics transported the victims to a hospital. One of the victims is the suspect’s sister." Ali's recount of the circumstances under which the women were transported by the Houston Fire Department paramedics to the hospital leaves unanswered questions about what led Peloquin to allegedly turn on those presumed closest to him.
Peloquin now awaits his day in court, held at the Harris County Jail.
