Houston's men in blue zeroed in on a suspect holed up in a vacant apartment yesterday, following a tip-off about a trespasser in the area. Darrell Kelly, the man apprehended on the scene, wasn't just a squatter—he was wanted on a much more serious charge.
Deputies from Constable Mark Herman's office swooped into the 16100 block of the North Freeway, where they found Kelly lingering without permission. But a routine check on the suspect transformed an ordinary call into an unexpected felony arrest. It turned out Kelly had an outstanding warrant for his arrest—a grave matter of Aggravated Kidnapping in Harris County.
The stakes were high, and the evidence against Kelly piled up quickly. Alongside the charge for Criminal Trespass, he was slapped with the original felony warrant. The numbers were crunched, and Kelly's chance for freedom was priced at a steep $35,100.00.
"Darrell Kelly was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail, charged with Criminal Trespass and the felony warrant. His total bond was set at $35,100.00 out of County Court 4 and the 176th District Court," stated Constable Mark Herman in a social media update.
