
A Houston woman, in her 40s, was found deceased in her vehicle Friday night after reportedly leaving home for a late-night snack run and not returning, Houston police confirmed.
Her body, exhibiting signs of blunt force trauma, was discovered around 7 p.m. in her car located on Briscoe Street in south Houston, Click2Houston reported. The family of the woman started their search after she failed to return home since departing around 1 a.m. from the Willowbrook area, where she lived, and headed out to a convenience store.
According to KHOU, the family used her phone to track her whereabouts and eventually located her and her vehicle on the opposite side of town. The Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences is expected to assist with the investigation to determine the official cause of death.
The Houston Police Department is investigating the incident as a homicide, having found the woman in the car that the family had been desperately searching for, was tracked down using her phone after not able to find her for hours. No further details about the crime or potential suspects have been released.
Houston authorities are urging anyone with information about the crime to come forward and contact HPD. The tragic event has left her family in mourning and the local community seeking answers.
