A tragic crash has left one man dead and led to the arrest of Tesa Teshea Hailey, 30, on charges of intoxication manslaughter. According to the City of Houston News, the incident occurred yesterday around 3:30 a.m. at 1400 West Tidwell Road.
Hailey was steering a white Buick Verano when it hit a curb, veered off the road, and crashed into a fence resulting in the death of the front-seat passenger; Hailey was later found to be intoxicated and was subsequently arrested and charged. The name of the deceased has not been released as it awaits verification from the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Griffiths and Officer D. Hoang disclosed details of the incident, noting that the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The Houston Fire Department’s paramedics were called to the scene where they declared the fatality. Hailey was taken to a nearby hospital, where the discovery of her intoxication led to her arrest.
Police have released a booking photo of Hailey, who is now facing the serious charge of intoxication manslaughter and will have her day in court before the 182nd State District Court, her life now presumably entwined with the stark consequence of that somber early morning on Tidwell Road.
