The adolescent suspect attempted to escape after crashing the vehicle in the 1000 block of Houston Avenue, but deputies quickly caught up. After a brief foot chase, they apprehended the teen. It was later discovered that this wasn't their first time evading arrest, according to Constable Mark Herman's office. Thankfully, the chase didn't result in any injuries, sparing both the community and the young individual from a more tragic outcome.
After the apprehension, "The juvenile was arrested and booked into the Harris County Juvenile Detention Center, charged with Evading Arrest in a Motor Vehicle, Evading Arrest and Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle," according to the report issued by Constable Herman's Office. This string of charges adds to what appears to be a troubling pattern for the youth, whose identity has not been disclosed due to their minor status, raises questions and concerns about the interventions and supports in place to redirect such young individuals from a path of repeat offenses.
