Law enforcement officials have ramped up their hunt for 24-year-old Luis Gerardo Rios, the man accused of the shooting that injured four at 5110 Washington Avenue on the night of March 2. According to a press release from the City of Houston, Rios faces multiple charges including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and aggravated assault-serious bodily injury linked to the violent event.

Rios's charges also extend to aggravated assault of a security officer due to an off-duty Harris County Sheriff’s Office deputy being in close proximity at the time of the attack, and now law enforcement agencies are pleading with the public to come forward with any information that may lead to his capture. In the aftermath of the chaos which HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Detectives V. Gamez and A. Garcia responded to, two men were left needing hospital treatment and two were treated at the scene and released the injuries sustained were not life-threatening, but the search for justice and for Rios has intensified since.

Investigators pieced together the chain of events that led to the shooting, as per the Houston Police Department's report. The altercation began with two individuals being ejected from a bar, then moments later, a dark-colored SUV, later identified as an older model black Chevrolet Tahoe, cruised by the venue and fired shots toward the bar before speeding away into the night.

Amid the investigation, witness statements and evidence from the shooting scene pointed to Rios as a perpetrator, they used surveillance and witness accounts to confirm Rios's involvement leading the Harris County District Attorney’s Office to issue charges, the suspect remains at large, his whereabouts are currently unknown, and authorities are urging anyone with information to reach out to the HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division or to share tips anonymously with Crime Stoppers. If spotted or if any information comes to light, the public is urged to act and reach out, to help bring closure to this unsettling case.
