
In a crackdown on illegal digital content, Petaluma police apprehended 26-year-old Angel Vega for possessing and allegedly intending to distribute obscene materials involving minors. The arrest took place at Rainier Circle, Petaluma, following a tip-off that initiated the investigation. According to a press release from the Petaluma Police Department, Vega is now facing charges under 311.11 P.C. for possession and 311.2 P.C. for distribution efforts of this deviant contraband.
The sting operation saw Vega nabbed on March 13 at 12:14 p.m., with the Petaluma Police already in possession of an arrest warrant tied to their ongoing probe. Angel Vega, the Petaluma suspect, is being held at the Sonoma County Jail on felony, and, misdemeanor charges. The police, after receiving a crucial tip, were able to establish probable cause that Vega was not just in possession of the illicit material but also planning to distribute it.
Vega's indictment includes the charge of Possessing images/data of persons under 18 years of age engaging in or simulating sexual conduct, according to Penal Code 311.11(a), and the charge of Distributing or possessing with the intent to distribute images/data depicting a person under 18 years of age, engaging in or simulating sexual conduct, under 311.2(c) P.C. These serious allegations highlight the ongoing battle against the sexual exploitation of minors and the channels used to spread such harmful content.
