The heart of the Alamo City was thumping to a Tejano beat this St. Patrick's Day weekend, as the Tejano Music Awards Fan Fair 2024 packed Hemisfair with a four-day fiesta of music and culture. In what’s become a San Antonio staple, the free event pulled in fans from all over the country, eager to sway to the sounds of some of the best names in Tejano music, as reported by FOX San Antonio.
With the venue running live music from noon till nearly midnight daily, attendees basked in the tunes of Jennifer Pena, Siggno, Stefani Montiel, and Destiny Navaira to name a few. The Tejano Music Awards Fan Fair, which wrapped up on March 17, wasn't just about the music; it featured autograph sessions with artists and a spread of local food that kept the festive spirit fueled, according to Visit San Antonio.
The Texas Talent Musicians Association (TTMA) played host, showcasing both the ongoing legacy of Tejano music and San Antonio's vibrant culture. With more than 100,000 estimated to have navigated the historic Hemisfair, the event's scale was a testament to the genre's enduring popularity and the city's knack for throwing a party that honors its roots.
From the seasoned beats of The Hometown Boys to the fresh grooves of The Ybarra Boyz, and special sessions with "The Voice" Jay Perez & Elida Reyna, the lineup was stacked and the crowd's energy electric. Organizers promised an experience that was as much about community as it was about the music, and from the looks of it, they delivered. As performances stretched across four stages, the sight was enough to make any music lover’s heart skip a beat, even as they kept time with the distinctive conjunto rhythms.
For those who missed the fanfare, details and highlights of the landmark event are still accessible to get a taste of what went down. Performers like Monica Saldivar and Lucky Joe left impressions that, much like the rich Tejano culture itself, won't soon fade from the city's memory—or its soul.
