San Antonio police have nabbed a second suspect in a bold daylight robbery of an armored truck on Wednesday. Melvin Charles Hill Jr., 33, faces multiple charges including aggravated robbery, after allegedly joining DeAndre Nelson, 28, in holding up a Brinks employee at gunpoint. The robbery occurred on the Northeast Side at a Wells Fargo, just shy of 10 a.m.

According to FOX San Antonio, the Brinks employee was ambushed while refilling an ATM. The suspects, one pointing a firearm at the victim, compelled her to the ground. Meanwhile, his accomplice seized several cash-filled boxes. A quick-thinking witness provided authorities with a key piece of the puzzle – the license plate number of the suspects' escape vehicle, which was tracked down to a residence off Bikini Drive.

In his statement obtained by KSAT, San Antonio Police Department public information officer Nick Soliz said, “They got them by surprise.” This unexpected assault left the armored truck crew defenseless as Hill and Nelson made off with the loot.

Evidence of the crime was uncovered when the homeowner allowed police access to footage from his doorbell camera. The video showed a suspect donning attire matching that of one of the robbers described in the heist. A search warrant for the black GMC Sierra revealed not just a handgun but also some loose cash in the backseat, as detailed by FOX San Antonio.

Hill, who is also charged with felon in possession of a firearm and driving while intoxicated, is currently booked into the Bexar County Jail. According to KSAT, his bond has been set at $172,000. Meanwhile, Nelson apparently made little effort to conceal his activities, allegedly boasting on social media about a casino trip purportedly financed by his ill-gotten gains.
