In a display of sharp-eyed vigilance, Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's deputies arrested a duo for grand theft auto on March 4, after spotting a stolen vehicle sporting a rather peculiar giveaway—a gas hose dangling from its tank. According to a recent social media post by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, the deputies' keen observation in Stevenson Ranch led to the apprehension of the male driver and female passenger.

Having been in the vicinity on a routine patrol, the deputies noticed the vehicle lacking front license plates. This was not all that was amiss; the gas hose left forgotten or ignored, hung from the side of the auto as it cruised, a stark misplacement that did not escape the deputies' attention. During the stop, it became apparent that the vehicle's identity was reported stolen, as per the Sheriff's Department's social media update.

The traffic stop soon turned into a drug bust when the deputies discovered that the suspects had methamphetamine. The offenders found themselves not just caught for a stolen ride, but also for illegal drug possession. As a result, the pair was booked into the Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station following their arrest on the scene.
