A teen has been slapped with armed carjacking charges after a daylight heist in Southeast DC, police said. The Metropolitan Police Department's Carjacking Task Force cuffed 19-year-old Khalill Boyd on Thursday following a brazen 3:30 p.m. stick-up in the 300 block of Anacostia Road.

Sporting a handgun, Boyd allegedly accosted a victim and demanded their car keys. The victim, who was promptly to comply, watched as Boyd tried to make a swift getaway. But his escape was short-lived – cops swooped in and arrested the suspect before he could flee the scene.

According to a statement obtained by the Metropolitan Police Department, "responding officers stopped the suspect and took him into custody" without further incident. The young suspect, hailing from Southeast DC himself, faces serious time for the armed heist.

Boyd's arrest was partly the result of collaboration between the DC cops and the neighboring Prince George’s County Police Department. Gratitude was extended for their aid, the MPD said in a statement.
