
A man has been taken into custody after causing a major crash and attempting to evade police, all while allegedly under the influence and illegally armed. Deputies from Constable Mark Herman's Office responded to the incident near the 15600 block of Hardy Toll Road on March 14.
The accident, which involved a single vehicle, prompted a witness to alert the authorities, claiming that the driver ditched his wrecked car, fleeing on foot the driver was located shortly after at a nearby business, where he was identified as John Wenglar and appeared to be heavily intoxicated.
Constable's deputies subjected Wenglar to a series of Standardized Field Sobriety Tests which ultimately led to the determination of his intoxication status, further investigation also unearthed a loaded handgun in his possession.
"John Wenglar was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail, charged with Driving While Intoxicated and Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon, his bond was set at $100.00 out of County Court 4," reported Constable Mark Herman. The circumstances around Wenglar's possession of the weapon and whether he has legal representation are currently unclear.
