A dramatic chase unfolded in Vallejo last week after police thwarted a theft attempt by three suspects known for repeatedly targeting a local business. According to the Vallejo Police Department, officers responded to a theft in progress at a store on the 1100 block of Admiral Callaghan Lane on March 7.
Upon arrival, law enforcement was briefed by loss prevention officers who spotted the suspects, an adult male and two females, attempting to make off with roughly $1000 in merchandise. Trying to circumvent capture, the male suspect, wielding a black Dodge Charger as stated by Vallejo PD's Facebook post, defiantly rammed a patrol car after running over spike strips laid by the officers, injuring an officer who had to be rushed to the hospital.
The man's attempted getaway was cut short when he crashed his vehicle, leading to his prompt arrest after a failed attempt to flee on foot. The two female accomplices emerged from the store, with only one in possession of stolen goods, implying that the other's hands were clean of theft this time. The thief was arrested alongside the male suspect, who was medically cleared for incarceration following hospitalization for his injuries.
Despite the collision, which sent both the suspect's Dodge and the police vehicle to the impound lot, the official VPD report assured that all parties involved escaped with non-life-threatening injuries. Thanks to the swift action of the Vallejo officers, all stolen items were recovered and returned to the rightful owner.
