A Wayne mother has been slapped with murder charges after her 8-year-old daughter was found dead, officials say. Chelsea Renee Duperon, 30, is accused of causing fatal head and neck injuries to her child in an alleged assault over the weekend.
According to FOX 2, the incident occurred in a home on Phyllis Street, and upon arrival, police discovered Duperon's daughter unresponsive. The prosecutor's office confirmed that Duperon has been charged with felony murder and first-degree child abuse stemming from her daughter's death.
Police were summoned to the scene early Saturday morning, based on reports of a non-breathing child, detailed by a CBS Detroit article. The young victim, discovered with multiple injuries, was rushed to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.
While the mother's arraignment is scheduled for Tuesday afternoon, new insights into the tragic event are anticipated.
