In north Harris County, a woman became the unexpected target of a violent attack during what authorities are suggesting was an attempted robbery on Sunday morning. The Harris County Sheriff's Office disclosed that deputies arrived on the scene of an aggravated assault at approximately 7:50 a.m., near Parker Road and the I-45H corridor.

The sheriff's office informed ABC13 that the victim, a woman in her 40s, sustained a gunshot wound to the back and, in an act of survival, drove herself to a nearby gas station to seek help. At the refuge of a gas station, she called 911.

"The suspects were not successful in taking anything, and the woman's condition is serious but stable," stated Travis Garcia from the HCSO Violent Crimes unit in a statement obtained by ABC13. Further investigations led deputies to the corner of Sweet Water Lane and Turney Drive, where the woman reported the gunfire occurred.

Details remain scarce, but officials have provided a description of the assailants: four Hispanic men driving a non-descript tan passenger car. Meanwhile, a separate investigation emerged as a result of a post from Sheriff Ed Gonzalez. The HCSO X update disclosed an incident involving another female victim, possibly aged 24, who was shot and later found at a gas station at the 6400 block of North Fwy. She too was transported to a hospital in critical condition, though the circumstances of her shooting remain enveloped in mystery.

Law enforcement is appealing to the public for any information that could aid in the apprehension of the suspects and piece together the ambiguous circumstances surrounding both violent incidents. No arrests have been announced at this time.
