Tragedy struck in Southeast Washington, where a juvenile male was found shot to death early Wednesday morning. The Metropolitan Police Department reported a distressing scene following a call about a person down. Officers discovered 14-year-old Irving Laboard, of Northeast, DC, suffering from fatal gunshot wounds, according to a release on the MPD’s official website.
After receiving the call at 7:19 A.M., Sixth District officers responded to Fort Dupont Drive, Southeast. Found with gunshot wounds, the young teen was on the ground as DC Fire and EMS promptly arrived, but despite intensive life-saving measures, Laboard sadly didn't survive and was pronounced dead on the scene.
Detectives from the Homicide Branch of the MPD are actively investigating this homicide, seeking answers to the callous shooting that ended a young life. No suspects have been named, and the incident's motives remain uncertain.
Irving Laboard, the deceased, has been recognized unfortunately as another statistic in an all-too-familiar tally of young lives extinguished by gunfire. The MPD has issued a plea to the public for any information that might lead to the apprehension of those responsible, imploring witnesses to step forward.
