Metropolitan Police Department detectives have nabbed 25-year-old Harris Baylin, who reportedly has been wreaking havoc on businesses with a string of break-ins and thefts.

A spate of burglaries linked to Baylin began on April 4, according to MPD reports. Baylin allegedly broke into and stole money from a business in the 3800 block of 14th Street, Northwest. The following morning, Baylin was at it again, this time forcefully entering a business just blocks away on the same street, the police stated.

But the alleged criminal spree didn't stop with theft. On the same day, detectives say, Baylin smashed his way into a business on Georgia Avenue but left without taking merchandise. Hours later, a second Georgia Avenue establishment suffered at his hands, with property stolen and Baylin fleeing, according to the investigators.

The spree of destruction continued over the following days. Police charge that on April 6, Baylin shattered a glass door and window of another 14th Street business. Adding a twist to his alleged misdeeds, Baylin tried to gain entry to a religious institution on 17th Street on April 8, reported MPD. With the doors locked, he then purportedly made off with packages nearby.

The charges against Baylin include multiple counts of second-degree theft and burglary, along with destruction of property and unlawful entry. With these arrests, MPD hopes to end a series of crimes troubling the community.
