In a routine maintenance move meant to keep the city’s firefighting gear in tip-top shape, crews will be out on the streets conducting hydrant flushing. This process not only tests and ensures that hydrants are ready for emergency use, but it also serves to clean out the pipes, getting rid of any mineral build-up that's inevitable in any water system, as reported by the City of Burnsville.

According to the City of Burnsville, residents might temporarily find the water at their taps turning an unsettling shade of iron. However, they are quick to reassure the public that this is simply due to the disturbance of sediments in the system and is not a health concern. The city advises homeowners to "Open all cold water faucets and allow them to run until water returns to clear” to resolve the issue.
