Dallas Theater Center Unveils Eclectic 2024-2025 Season Lineup Featuring Dracula Comedy and Western DramaSource: Google Street View

The Dallas Theater Center (DTC) is dishing out a varied buffet of productions for its 2024-2025 season, complete with a side of comedy, a slice of Americana, and a dash of musical pizzazz. The lineup features everything from a reimagined Dracula to a classic Western, a beloved pie-centric musical, and the return of a certain Dreamcoat-adorned biblical character, as reported by The Dallas Express and Dallas CultureMap.

Things take a lighter turn with Gordon Greenberg and Steve Rosen's "Dracula: A Comedy of Terrors," described by CultureMap as a "fang-tastic comedy" that injects the legendary vampire tale with a dose of Mel Brooks, Monty Python, and The 39 Steps. The show promises clever wordplay and quick-change antics, directed by DTC's own Blake Hackler. Meanwhile, DTC's traditional holiday offering, "A Christmas Carol," stays true to its roots, inviting audiences to Dickens' classic narrative from November 29 to December 28, 2024. "Our 2024-25 season will surprise and delight North Texas audiences all season long," Kevin Moriarty, executive director of the DTC, told Dallas CultureMap.

On the wild side, Karen Zacarías' stage adaptation of "Shane" transports viewers to the Old West with an intimate glimpse into the mythology of cowboys and the expansive American frontier. Dallas CultureMap hails the play, running from January 31 to February 23, 2025, as a fresh take on an "extraordinary American genre." On a more contemporary note, "Primary Trust" strikes a chord with a tale of transformation and connection by Eboni Booth, unfolding in the small town of Upstate New York. The award-winning drama will occupy the stage from February 27 through March 16, 2025, in partnership with Fort Worth's Stage West.

True to its penchant for featuring modern musical sensations, the DTC will produce "Waitress," with Sara Bareilles' Grammy-winning melodies. The musical, which spins the narrative of Jenna, an aspiring pie-shop owner wrestling with an unexpected pregnancy and life's tough choices, is scheduled to serve satisfaction from March 29 to April 27, 2025. "Filled with musicals, comedies, and heartwarming dramas, this is a season with something for everyone," Moriarty explained, as per The Dallas Express.

For those fans of flamboyant musical storytelling, "Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" arrives on the DTC stage with its vibrant retelling of the bible story, running from June 13 to July 20, 2025. The Webber and Rice classic remains one of the most enduring shows of all time and is set to fill the Potter Rose Performance Hall with its infectious songs and energy.

Subscriptions for the Dallas Theater Center's new season are already up for grabs for current patrons, while newcomers can join the audience starting in May. Pie lovers and thrill-seekers alike can look forward to a variety of live experiences all under one roof, because in the theater world, it seems surprises come not just from the onstage drama, but the breadth of tales ready to unfold in the velvet seats of Dallas's performance halls.
