Georgia authorities have slapped cuffs on a 23-year-old man from Damascus, charging him with viciously opening fire and causing serious injury over the weekend in Blakely. Alphonso Alemayehu Thomas now faces Aggravated Assault and Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Crime, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation said.

The GBI detailed that the turmoil unfolded on the night of April 13, when Blakely cops rushed to answer a shots-fired call on Westview Drive around 11:20 p.m., there they stumbled upon a scene of violence, a man, wounded by gunfire, struggling, was swiftly whisked to a local hospital, before being life flighted to Alabama for urgent care GBI authorities stated.
