A Canton man has been convicted on multiple counts of sexual crimes against a child and is awaiting sentencing, reports indicate. Juan Nazario Lopez, 53, was found guilty of rape, incest, aggravated child molestation, child molestation, and enticing a child for indecent purposes following a four-day trial that concluded on Friday.

The jury, having deliberated for a day and a half, returned with a guilty verdict on all counts. The case, brought to the attention of the Cherokee County's law enforcers last year by the victim's aunt, sent shockwaves through the community, exposing vile acts committed against the defenseless.
