DC cops are on the hunt for a cunning burglar who hit two Northwest businesses, making off with cold cash from one and various loot from another. The Metropolitan Police has released details in hopes the public can help net the suspect, who seems to have a knack for late-night thefts.
The first break-in occurred at an establishment on the 3800 block of 14th Street, NW, on Thursday, April 4, according to the MPD. The suspect, coming after business hours at 10:53 p.m., forced entry and pocketed an undisclosed amount of money before slipping away into the night.
In a brazen repeat performance, on April 6, the same suspect is believed to have forcefully entered a business in the 3100 block of Georgia Avenue, NW, at 9:12 p.m. The thief, exhibiting a preference for evening escapades, seized property and evaded capture yet again, as per the MPDC.
The MPD's Fourth District detectives are leading the investigation and have asked for help from the community to apprehend the night-time bandit. A detailed description of the suspect has not been released, but the incidents have left local business owners on edge, looking over their shoulders as they lock up for the day.
Frustrated merchants are urging others to come forward with any information that could lead to an arrest. Authorities are reminding everyone to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities that could be related to these incidents. Tips can be submitted through the MPD's official website via a confidential link at MPD's news release.
