Detroit police are asking for the public's help in locating a 16-year-old girl, Malayia Denson, who went missing on April 9. Denson was last seen leaving her home in the 3100 block of Greyfriars and has not returned, generating concern for her safety.
Authorities have released a description of Malayia, noting that she is 5 feet 5 inches tall, weighs 137 pounds, and has black locks. She also is known to wear a brown wig and, has brown eyes with grey contacts. At the time of her disappearance, she was wearing a black top and blue basketball shorts, ClickOnDetroit reported.
The Detroit Police Department's 4th Precinct is leading the search and is urging anyone with information to step forward. The case has also prompted attention on social media, with the department highlighting the urgency through its Facebook page, Detroit Police Department's Missing, urging the community to help find Malayia.
"Please help us find missing Malayia Denson. If you have any information, please call Detroit's 4th Precinct at (313) 596-5440 or 911," the Detroit Police Department's Missing stated. The police have not yet disclosed any leads, or circumstances surrounding her disappearance, but the plea for assistance underscores a sense of rising concern for Malayia's well-being.
