A tragic collision on Ogontz Avenue in Philadelphia's Logan section has left one man dead and a woman fighting for her life, officials confirmed. The incident occurred Wednesday night when a Red Nissan Versa, driven by a 27-year-old man heading south, was struck by a black Lexus traveling in the opposite direction.
Both victims were swiftly transported to Einstein Medical Center by emergency services, the man succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead shortly after he arrived at the hospital at about 8:36 p.m., as NBC Philadelphia reported. The 27-year-old woman, who had been a passenger in the Nissan Versa, remains in critical condition.
Authorities have not stated whether there were any contributing factors such as speed or impairment playing a part in this deadly encounter, the accident investigation is ongoing.
The section of Ogontz Avenue where the crash happened was closed for hours, and details about the black Lexus or its driver have yet to be disclosed sparingly by police, according to CBS Philly.
