A street race tragedy struck Los Angeles when two vehicles, caught in a high-speed race, lost control resulting in the death of one driver and serious damage to city property.

The fateful incident occurred late Sunday night on Vernon Avenue when a 2014 Honda Accord and a 2016 Nissan Versa engaged in what appears to have been an illegal race. According to the LAPD Newsroom, the Nissan Versa spun out of control and violently to collide into a telephone pole. Variously, the Honda Accord smashed into multiple parked vehicles along the street.

The aftermath was bleak. Paramedics from the Los Angeles Fire Department arrived to pronounce the driver of the Nissan, 44-year-old Tyrone Lindqvist, dead at the scene.
