The City of Glendale is set to host their 23rd Annual Armenian Genocide Commemorative Event on April 21, at the Alex Theatre. This year's event, marked by the theme "1.5 Million+," intends to honor the legacy of the Armenian Genocide victims while focusing on educating the community. The program features testimonials, cultural performances, and an exhibition of traditional Armenian arts, according to the City of Glendale.
Organized to commence at 4 PM, the event will open with a sober recognition of the current suffering in Artsakh. Attendees will hear from Nairi Bandari and view media from Zartonk Media, showcasing the inherited challenges of Armenians. Glendale is set to pay tribute with performances by the Character Dance Group, the Haikian Chamber Choir, and a lineup that includes notable figures like international lawyer Karnig Kerkonian, and children's author Astrid Kamalyan, as reported by the City of Glendale.
The commemorative event is part of Glendale's "Week of Remembrance," aimed at recognizing the victims of not only the Armenian Genocide but other genocides across the globe. As mentioned in the City of Glendale, the week features multiple solidarity events including book readings, art exhibitions, poetry sessions, and a film screening, all free and open to the public.
