Harper Woods Man Extradited from Delaware, Charged with Attempted Murder in Girlfriend's ShootingSource: Michigan Department of Correction

A Harper Woods man, Brenitaze Moore, 29, has been charged with multiple felonies, including attempted murder, after he allegedly shot his girlfriend in an argument turned violent late last year. According to FOX 2 Detroit, the incident occurred just before 8:05 a.m. on Dec. 21, 2023. The prosecutor's office says that in an attempt to escape an escalating altercation, the 25-year-old victim was shot multiple times as she got into her car to leave.

Moore was later found in Delaware and extradited to Michigan to stand trial. Having arrived last Friday in Michigan, the following day, he was remanded to jail after being arraigned on charges including Assault with Intent to Murder and Assault with Intent to do Great Bodily Harm, as reported by WWJ Newsradio. Moore, who allegedly fired the gun, is also facing charges as a felon in possession of a firearm.

The victim, who has not been identified, suffered a non-fatal bullet wound to the stomach and managed to drive herself to a store for help after being shot through the driver's side window of her car. MLive reports that the shooting provoked an immediate lockdown of nearby schools and a shelter-in-place warning issued to residents in the Harper Woods area on the day of the incident.

Having been extradited, Moore faces a probable cause conference scheduled for April 24, where he will appear before Judge Rebekah Coleman in 32A District Court in Harper Woods. Additional to the attempted murder charge, Moore is charged with felonious assault and four counts of felony firearm, along with domestic violence, according to the release from the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office. Survivor of a brazen daylight shooting, the victim's ordeal stands as a testament to the frightening escalation that domestic disputes can reach.
