A sudden and deadly hit-and-run has left a female pedestrian dead in Northridge, sparking an urgent investigation by LAPD's Valley Traffic Division, according to officials.

The tragic incident occurred in the early hours of April 15, when a woman, pushing a shopping cart along Tampa Avenue, was fatally struck from behind by a white Chevrolet Express van, which then fled the scene. Detectives describe the van as having sustained front-end collision damage from the crash that claimed the life of a woman in her 30s.

The Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics were called to the spot near Tampa Avenue and Business Center Drive at approximately 2:55 a.m. They pronounced the victim dead at the scene, as detailed in the LAPD's newsroom release.

As the authorities work to identify the driver responsible for this heinous act, they are calling on anyone with information to come forward, reminding the public that there's a $50,000 reward for tips leading to an arrest and conviction.
