Los Angeles Police Intensify Search for Missing Elderly Man With Alzheimer'sSource: Los Angeles Police Department

The Los Angeles Police Department is ramping up their search for 88-year-old Fazlollah Elahi, who suffers from Alzheimer's and went missing on the afternoon of April 22. Elahi was last seen in the white 2003 Toyota Prius he and his wife drove to the Del Rey Lagoon area. The LAPD's Pacific Area detectives and Elahi's concerned family are reaching out to the community, asking for assistance in locating the elderly man who failed to take his important daily medication.

According to LAPD Newsroom, his wife, Lucy Elahi, left the keys inside the vehicle with Mr. Elahi when she walked their dog around the lagoon. Returning 40 minutes later, she found her husband and the specified car, which had the California license plate "5AWP524", had disappeared while the ignition was turned off. Mr. Elahi's situation is critical not only due to his Alzheimer's but also because of his need for routine medication that he did not have with him.

Described as a white male with black hair, brown eyes, standing 5 feet 4 inches tall, and weighing about 175 pounds, Fazlollah Elahi was last seen wearing a black hat, plaid jacket, a black long-sleeve shirt, and blue sweatpants. He also wears a bracelet inscribed with his diagnosis and contact information.

The LAPD have provided a line for those who might have information leading to Elahi's whereabouts, urging them to contact the Missing Persons Unit at (213) 996-1800. In the statement obtained by LAPD Newsroom, information can also be shared anonymously through LA Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (800-222-8477), or online at www.lacrimestoppers.org. Individuals may also download the “P3 Tips” mobile app and select LA Regional Crime Stoppers as their local program during after non-business hours or on weekends.

The community's prompt response to such incidents is vital in safeguarding the wellbeing of our vulnerable citizens. In this race against time, every second counts. Your help can make the difference in reuniting Fazlollah Elahi with his family and returning him to safety.
