Police have cuffed a man in connection to a Southwest shooting that sent four to the hospital with bullet wounds, authorities said. According to a Metropolitan Police Department release, the incident took place on the 4400 Block of Martin Luther King Jr Avenue this past Sunday, with police responding to a call at about 8:43 p.m.
No victims were found at the scene initially, however, shortly after officers arrived, four adults suffering from gunshot injuries were discovered and dispatched to local hospitals, lucky to escape with their lives; the injuries sustained declared non-life-threatening. Investigations by the Metropolitan Police's Seventh District led to 23-year-old Jason Dyer of Northeast, D.C, not just a victim but a player in the violent drama, he's now charged with Assault with Intent to Kill.
The MPD is still on the hunt for others who had a hand in the shooting melee and are also looking for a vehicle tied to the crime, seeking tips from the community to help seal the case. The department urges anyone with information to come forward, painting a broader picture of the lawlessness that erupted that Sunday night.
