McWhorter, a $4 million investment paired with the creation of 28 new jobs will enhance the company's manufacturing capacity, improve automation, and expand its freezer and processing facilities. A move that is set to spice up Shelby County's economy, the plan includes the initiation of a full second shift to capitalize on untapped market opportunities.
Founded as an offshoot of the famed Corky's BBQ, Corky’s Food Manufacturing, LLC has built a reputation for dishing out authentic Memphis barbecue flavor through its network of eight restaurant locations across Tennessee, Arkansas, and Mississippi. The new investment seeks to amplify the brand's distribution reach via an array of retail products available in grocery chains and through direct-to-consumer channels. As per a statement obtained by the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development, this marks another milestone in the state's efforts to bolster local job creation and investment. Since 2020, nearly 50 economic development projects in Shelby County have come to fruition, promising some 5,300 jobs and a substantial $1.1 billion in capital investment.
