Tensions flared in Northwest this week, resulting in the Metropolitan Police Department taking down a gun-toting suspect. According to an official release by MPD, the altercation occurred on Tuesday, April 2, when a verbal disagreement took a dangerous turn on N Street, leading the man to pull a firearm on the victim.
In a prompt response, the officers, who were responding to the scene, managed to chase the suspect down on foot. After being apprehended, the weapon was seized and it was later found to be stolen from a separate jurisdiction. Fleeting on foot, the man budding from the scene, the suspect's escape was short-lived thanks to the quick action of the police.
The swift work by the detectives from the MPD’s Third District led to charges being laid down on 33-year-old Daniel Nathaniel Anthony of Northwest. Facing multiple counts, including Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (gun), Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Carrying a Pistol without a License, and Receiving Stolen Property, Anthony is now grappling with the weight of his actions.
