Mount Pleasant has become the latest scene of a crime search as the Metropolitan Police Department’s Third District calls on the public to help track down a group of robbery suspects. According to an official release, a brazen assault took place on Monday, right as the neighborhood was bustling with the end-of-day foot traffic.
The victims, who have not been named, were walking along the 3100 block of Mt. Pleasant Street, Northwest, at around 5 p.m. when they were suddenly confronted. With the threat of violence lurking, they demanded the victims hand over their cell phones and money. The victims, surrounded by assailants, managed to escape without surrendering their possessions.
Authorities are combing through any evidence and have asked anyone with information to step forward. The Metropolitan Police stressed the importance of community involvement in their press release.
As the investigation continues, the MPD remains tight-lipped about whether they have any leads on the suspects. However, they continue to solicit tips from locals, believing that the assailants can't have gone far and that residents could hold the key to unraveling this act of intimidation and greed in the community.
