Michigan AG Nessel Targets Ecoshield Pest Solutions Detroit Over Alleged Deceptive Sales TacticsSource: Google Street View

Michigan's Attorney General Dana Nessel is cracking down on a pest control company for its allegedly shady practices. Ecoshield Pest Solutions Detroit, LLC is under the gun to revise its cancellation policies or risk legal repercussions. Nessel's office issued a notice to the company after getting wind of customer complaints regarding their door-to-door sales strategy, which apparently includes some questionable contract language that doesn't sit well with state laws.

According to a report by ClickOnDetroit, the Michigan Home Solicitation Sales Act is clear: buyers have a three-day grace period to cancel contracts and get full refunds. However, Ecoshield's contracts seem to attempt to circumvent these rights, particularly in the event of an "emergency", a term the company has to better define or risk having to swiftly change its approach to customer cancellations.

Summer's rise in door-to-door sales provides ripe ground for pressured, on-the-spot decision-making, and Nessel isn't having any of it. "Consumers have the right to take their time, ask questions, and avoid pressured on-the-spot decisions. Any deceptive tactics should be reported to my office," the Attorney General stated in a release obtained by Michigan Department of Attorney General. Should Ecoshield fail to fall in line, Nessel is prepared to pursue further action.

Michigan residents feeling duped by Ecoshield can reach out directly to Nessel's Consumer Protection Team. This bunch is the watchdog for any funny business in the marketplace and they're not letting any dodgy contract slide by unnoticed. With an arsenal of consumer alerts and resources, the team is ready to field calls and complaints from any consumer left feeling that they've been treated unfairly in any trade.
