Smith, of Frenchtown Township, is said to have lured 23-year-old Sedoskey to the derelict Boysville Juvenile Detention Center under the impression of solitude only to be met by her assailants.
The no-contest plea, entered on April 2 in the 38th Circuit Court, will result in Smith facing a minimum of 40 years in prison, and the involved parties agreed on a factual basis for the court to accept the plea, ClickonDetroit reports. Sedoskey's death, which involved three gunshot wounds, was investigated by the Michigan State Police among other law enforcement agencies for about a year leading to the arrest of Smith and five others.
According to MLive, Steven Bails, aged 45, was convicted of first-degree homicide, and conspiracy to commit homicide on March 21. Also implicated in the case were Narena Bails and Sierra Bemis, who entered no-contest pleas to second-degree homicide, while Alexander Feko is on the record for pleading guilty to tampering with evidence and accessory charges following the tragic event. An additional suspect, Kaylyn Ramsey, awaits trial.
