Montgomery County Detectives Seek Public's Aid Following Rockville Hyundai Elantra TheftSource: Google Street View

Rockville residents, lock up your Hyundais! Montgomery County's Major Crimes Unit is on the hunt for the criminal minds who swiped a 2013 Hyundai Elantra early this month. Authorities are pleading with the public to come forward with any information that could lead to the arrest of these slippery suspects.

The carjacking went down between the evening of March 31 and the morning of April 1, according to reports. The vehicle's owner had to begin the new month with the distressing discovery that her ride was stolen right from under her nose. But luck would have it that the stolen Elantra didn't stay hidden for long, having been found abandoned in the 200 block of Poplar Spring Road in Rockville, as reported by the Montgomery County Department of Police.

According the Montgomery County's official press release, a shadowy male figure was caught on tape committing the deed at around 4:15 a.m. Datum for datum, the authorities have pieced together a timeline, yet the suspect's face remains a blur—a challenge for the ACES team as they dive deeper into the case.

Anyone with info is encouraged to contact the Major Crimes Unit – ACES at 240-773-5070. A reward of up to $10,000 is being offered for information that leads to the arrest of the suspect. Tips may remain anonymous.
