MPD Arrests Five Juveniles in Navy Yard CVS Theft, Investigation for Additional Suspects ContinuesSource: Metropolitan Police Department

The Metropolitan Police Department has made additional arrests connected to a retail theft at a Navy Yard CVS earlier this month, according to a press release. The incident, which took place on April 16, 2024, involved a group of teenagers entering the CVS and taking merchandise without paying. One of the teens reportedly threw a bottle at a security guard when confronted.

On April 27, through continued investigation, the MPD announced they had managed to take into custody five juvenile suspects. The group includes two 15-year-old females and three males, two aged 14 and one aged 15, all hailing from the Southeast area of the city. These adolescents face a range of charges which include aggressive assault, burglary, theft, and conspiracy, among others.

Additionally, one of the 15-year-old females and a 16-year-old male, who was nabbed on April 20, are also being charged in connection with an assault that occurred at the National Mall shortly before the CVS theft. These new developments follow after detectives' dedicated effort to unravel the chain of events leading to the disturbance at the Navy Yard's retail corridors.

The police continue to seek out possible additional suspects as the investigation unfolds. Local business owners are urged to stay alert and report any suspicious activities, in an effort to collectively improve security and deter further incidents.
