Gunfire erupted in Southeast DC, leaving law enforcement on the hunt for a triggerman. According to the Metropolitan Police Department, detectives from the Sixth District are actively searching for a suspect involved in a shooting that injured an adult female.
On the morning of April 5, authorities responded to the sound of shots fired on the 1700 block of Fairlawn Avenue. It was around 9:45 when officers came upon the victim, who had been struck by gunfire. The woman was swiftly transported to receive medical attention for wounds thankfully deemed non-fatal.
Currently, details about the shooter remain sparse, and MPD has not yet released information regarding a potential motive or the circumstances leading up to the incident. The Sixth District detectives are urging anyone with knowledge of the shooting to come forward.
