UPDATE: MPD Seeks Suspect Alante Partlow in Northeast D.C. Shooting That Wounded Man and ChildSource: Metropolitan Police Department

Police are on the hunt for a man they say opened fire in Northeast, wounding a man and a young child late Tuesday night. The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) has identified the suspect wanted in connection with the shooting, which occurred on the 4800 block of North Capitol Street, and are appealing to the public for assistance.

The shooting rocked the Northeast community just before midnight. According to a release by MPD, at approximately 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 23, responding officers found an adult male and a 5-year-old girl with gunshot wounds. Both victims, known to the suspect, were rushed to local hospitals and are being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Law enforcement identified the suspect as 29-year-old Alante Partlow, a Northeast D.C. resident. Currently, Partlow is the subject of a D.C. Superior Court Arrest Warrant, charging him with Aggravated Assault while Armed (Gun).

MPD officials have been canvassing the area, gathering details, and asking anyone with information to come forward. "The detectives’ investigation revealed the suspect and victims were known to each other," the MPD statement detailed. The department urges anyone who can help to contact the police and promises anonymity to those who wish to remain out of the public eye. Tipsters could be eligible for a reward if their information leads to an arrest and conviction in the case.

As of now, Partlow's whereabouts remain unknown, and the MPD is eager to apprehend him to prevent any further violence. The investigation continues, and those with any knowledge of the incident or Partlow's location are encouraged to reach out to the MPD's tip line directly or to submit their tips anonymously as the community recovers from this unsettling act of violence.
