Early morning commuters in San Antonio faced a sea of brake lights today as, multiple incidents on Interstate 35 triggered widespread delays. According to KSAT, the chaos began with an 18-wheeler crash near Toepperwein Road on the city's Northeast Side just before the break of dawn. The truck, for reasons as yet unknown, slammed into a barrier causing all northbound lanes to close. Traffic was snarled back to O’Connor Road before the road reopened later in the morning.
Adding to the commuter headache, My San Antonio reported a stranded SUV on I-35 near Judson Road around 6:28 a.m. This incident apparently clogged the right lane, causing further buildup. Meanwhile, another incident involving a vehicle hauling a trailer came to a halt on the same highway, exacerbating the already tight traffic situation.
The situation seemed no better on other parts of I-35, where additional wrecks added to the day's traffic troubles. A collision in the southbound lanes at the intersection with I-10 and U.S. 87, reported just after 7 a.m., was a notable contributor to the morning's gridlock. Furthermore, a stalled vehicle on I-35 South and Cesar E. Chavez Boulevard managed to snag the left shoulder, adding a subtle but palpable layer to the commuting challenge.
San Antonio drivers were advised to either seek alternate routes or brace for delays as the city grappled with the transportation turmoil.
