
The Philadelphia Police Department's Northwest Detective Division is on the hunt for a suspect linked to a string of burglaries at a local Germantown church, according to a recent blotter update. The perpetrator, described as a light-skinned black male in his early 20s, is accused of breaking into and vandalizing the Germantown Church of Brethren on three separate occasions within the last month.
The repeat offenses took place at 6611 Germantown Ave, with the most recent incident occurring on April 8, at around 11:30 p.m.; the individual has been captured by surveillance cameras each time with March 19th, March 21st and again on April 8th being distinctively noted, according to surveillance footage provided by the church, the suspect is of a similar build and appearance each time, sporting light pants, black sneakers, alongside a hoodie and jacket during all three break-ins, this pattern of events has escalated concerns among the local congregation and clergy.
The complainant, whose name has not been released, reported to authorities that the same intruder has consistently targeted the place of worship he represents. In a statement given to the Philadelphia Police, the church representative revealed that the unwelcome visitor's actions have resulted in property damage and a growing unsettling impact on the church community.
Philadelphia law enforcement has issued a call to action, urging anyone with information about the suspect or the burglaries to come forward; the department has shared the video evidence on their official blotter to identify the culprit the public’s assistance is considered crucial in this matter.
