The Pomona Police Department is currently investigating a fatal hit and run that took the life of a Hispanic female adult on Sunday night. According to the official statement released by the Traffic Services Bureau, the incident occurred at the intersection of Towne Ave and Monterey Ave at 8:43 PM.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers found the woman lying on the roadway with serious injuries. Despite valiant efforts to quickly save her life, her wounds proved too severe, and she later died at the hospital. The driver responsible had already fled, leaving authorities to appeal to the public for assistance. As the Major Accident Investigation Team continues to probe into the matter, to actively encourage anyone with information to come forward, they have made it clear that every detail could potentially be key to securing justice.
The department has yet to release the identity of the victim, pending the notification of next of kin. This acknowledgement of privacy illustrates a somber respect for the grieving process that awaits this victim's family, already irrevocably altered by the night's cruel events.
